I apologize for leaving you all in the dark about how things turned out. It has been nagging me that I need to close the loop after so many of you
sent kind messages of support.

When we bought our 23, we insured it for the replacement value at that time to get a lower premium. Since then, we poured many hours and dollars into
it without reviewing our policy. As it turned out, the uninsured motorist insurance limit was higher, than our stated value, so Progressive paid the
uninsured motorist limit, 10,000. Progressive appraised the coach at 18,000 from pictures, documentation of upgrades, and market research that I
provided, I think this was pretty darn accurate. Progressive also let me keep the 23 with no buy back BS. I am still considering rebuilding the rear
of it, and have a parts coach located.

To add insult to injury (literally) the accused drunk, uninsured, reckless driving motorist who hit us has opted for a court trial. I have received a
subpoena to testify for the prosecution.... right in the middle of the GMCMI Tucson rally that we were going to attend with coach. We are now
scheduled to fly in for the opening half of the rally.

Now the fun part. With the settlement, some savings, and much help from other GMC'ers we have located and purchased a 1976 Edgemonte with rear twin
beds, the world's smallest shower, Alcoa hot shot wheels, tankless water heater, Doug Thorley headers, Stainless exhaust, 1 ton front end, rear disk
brakes, Sully air bags, and rebuilt engine and transmission of unknown origin. It needs some paint touch-up and interior work, but it is 100% usable.
The coach is still in the San Jose area and we just completed the second work weekend trip yesterday. We will bring it up to the Northwest this
spring.

Thanks to all in the forum who offered parts, coaches, tips on dealing with insurance, and stories of previous insurance claims, I learned from all of
them.
A HUGE thanks to friends/family who assisted in the new coach evaluation and purchase.

I'll get some pictures up on the photo site and update my sig file... soon.

What Sully said. Worst they can do is say 'no'. The defense is hoping you won't show up, and their man will walk. Another thought... isn't as
important here, but might be elsewhere, particularly when the other party is insured. Consider any conversation - even with your own adjuster - as an
adversary relationship. i.e. say nothing till you've had a bit to think the whole thing out. "Are yall OK?" elicits a response, and if it's "Yeah"
you've jepoardized any claim in the future for hidden injury. "We have him on a recording saying he's okay". Remember, the insurance person's job is
to not give out money, and to minimize any giveout that's made.

Like my ol' daddy the judge used to say 'argue in my courtroom, not out by the highway... that's what it's for.'

And as an aside, I'd get a judgement against the other driver or owner of the car if it's a different person, if it isn't expensive to do in your
State. It's surprising how 'indigent' individuals can come up with money when they have to... to protect their income.

I had a collector car sale go south on me. Sold " As Is/Where Is ".
Transport driver damaged the car. New owner came back after me. I offered
to repair the damage costs. But, the new owner, an A--- Hole from New
Hampshire, decided to try to get 3 times the value of the repair as allowed
by some consumer protection law in his state allowed for. He Filed a
lawsuit. I ignored it. Then I got papers from the court informing me of the
3X if I failed to appear. I consulted a local attorney ($$$) He advised
that I contact a NH attorney (more $$$$). When the court date arrived, I
filed for a continuation and was granted one. Fast forward. I did the same
thing twice more. Then, I received an offer of binding arbitration. I
submitted my original "good faith" offer. Arbitrator accepted it. I
stipulated that no further contact from the buyer be allowed. Court agreed.
But, dipstick couldn't resist one more shot at me. I had my NH attorney go
after him. Court fined him for contempt. Cost me $$$$$$$, but it was my
choice. No regrets.
