Access door supports?

I'm looking for supports for the two small front access doors since mine are
missing. The mounting studs are there but no supports. Also, what type of
supports, if any, were used on the door to the generator, most important,
and the propane tank, less important? The fellow who had my coach previously
used a bungee cord. Effective but much less than elegant for such a great
vehicle. Any suggestions for sources or ideas for "home built" rigs?

I thought of finding a gas cylinder to hookup to the big doors such as is
used on many hoods (bonnets for the Anglophiles out there) or trunks (boots)
of modern cars.

I found a nice kit for the generator and propane doors at Golby's, containing
gas struts of the proper length, brackets, and instructions. Seemed like a
reasonable price at the time, but I can't quote a $ figure. Call them at

This is an excellent point. Most of the struts for car hatches have
about 20lb of extension pressure. That's way too high for these little
fiberglass doors. On another list I saw a URL posted for a supplier of
these struts. IIRC, the writer had order a couple in 6lb, which sounds
about right for this application too.

I'll check with him and post the address here.
