AC high pressure hose replacement

So my mechanic had done some work on the top of the engine and did not latch the AC hose off of the alternator belt so it cut into the hose. Something
I didn't realize till I tried the add Duracool to the system last season and the refrigerant spewed right back out. I pulled the hose and had it
repaired and put it back on and zip tied it back off the belt. This all happened at the end of season so I never got the system up and running again.
This summer would like to get it working again. What will I need done to it before I put Duracool in it?

Tom,

If it has been open all winter, you should change out the dryer and pull a good vacuum on the system.

How much oil did you loose? That should be made up too.

To do it right. Replace or renew the receiver - dryer. (Renew by baking it, but a new one would be better) If the oil has been drained, put 4
ounces or so of mineral oil in the system. If you replaced the dryer, pour out what oil is in it and replace that much oil. If it had R134a in it,
drain the oil and clean the system, then add mineral oil. Pressure the system with dry nitrogen to ~~250 psi and let it sit overnight and check that
the system hasn't leaked overnight. Take your vacuum pump, release the nitrogen, and pull a hard vacuum on the system. Watch it for 20 - 30 minutes
to ensure there are no leaks under vacuum. Put a couple of cans of DuraCool in, then look at the gauge and run some of the third can in. Most folks
shoot for 20 PSI on the suction side at ~~ 1500 RPM. Option - put your temp probe in the air outlet and ease the third can in as long as the outlet
temp falls. Keep it above 32 degrees. Once it falls off minimum temp, seal it up and run it.

Hey Matt, honestly I don't know how long the system was open. When I discovered the breach I pull the belt and rubber band some cellophane over the
ports right away till I got the hose fixed and back on. But I don't know how long it was open befor that. Guess I'll get a dryer and vacuum it down to
be sure.

Whatever, I am a week +/- from getting my coach done.
After that....
Do you know where the leak is??
I may have a cheap way to find it.
Do you want to put HC-12a (Duracool) in the system?
Does it currently have R-134a access fittings?

This can all be handled in my driveway, but you have to chase the parts - I don't have time.
I do have some Duracool and R-134a (not as good, but legal) is cheap at Ollie's.
I also have a big can of vacuum (joke - it is a science lab 0.1u pump - serious over kill for A/C).

I should be the one offering to help you! In no way was I requesting you do
the work for me! =) I was curious if you knew of any shops locally... But I
also understand that no shop will install Duracool. Plan changed!

I was giving thought to the harbor freight coolant sniffer to find my leak
vs die. Would come in handy twice a decade, and I do live twice a decade
tools!

To answer your questions - nope, I'm not sure where the coolant leaked out
between the fall of 2017 and the spring of 2018, but it was empty when I
started her up last month. R134.

Ill find the leak first. Might have to stop by if you have a mega vacuum
pump and some duracool once it's fixed.

Are the dryers easially sourced?
