A new evap check valve

Ive been through 3 of these stupid check valve for the charcoal canister.
So Im trying to find an upgrade.
I found a valve that fits into the top of the fuel tank for a newer jeep



Im not willing to cut a huge hole in my tank, so I made this.
It should be a direct replacement. I got it assembled today and leak tested it.
Now I just need to mount it.

Don't look at the solder job!

well I tested it in real life. filled the coach with gas and no leaks!
Now to just run it for a couple years to see how long it lasts

Here it is installed. Thats a piece of all thread bent into a 'U' and using the original mounting holes

Is it a really check valve? And you're replacing the liquid separator in the wheel well with it? The OEM setup was a float valve. Maybe I'm not understanding the task at hand here.

Its a float valve that keeps fuel out of the evap system, just like the junky corvette one. Except these work

Ah, so it is a float valve. I was confused since the initial post called it a check valve. That's cool you found another application that uses a fuel rated float valve! I certainly didn't know of any off the top of my head. Availability of this valve will certainly be better. I hope your field tests continue to prove favorable, this could be good news for the community!

I'd like to figure out a way to build a similar device using HDPE plastic. The first thing that came to mind was a Nalgene bottle. Might be able to cut a hole in a wide-mouth bottle lid to fit the float valve. Not sure if the dimensions would work out though. Would someone mind measuring the diameter of the flange on the replacement float valve?

There are different materials used in Nalgene bottles, not all are resistant to alcohol and gasoline.

Right...I was looking specifically at the lab-grade, fluorinated HDPE Nalgenes. Seems safer than PVC or ABS, and I'm not convinced copper is the right answer either.
