Kathy and I are working out plans for a cross country trip in March, mostly on !-10, between Tucson and Jacksonville (first leg), and we're looking for a good way to avoid the congestion around Houston. We'll actually be approaching the Houston area from Brenham on 290 at that point and will want to get back on I-10 east of Houston, maybe at Beaumont, bypassing the city to the north. Maybe 99 to 90, then to Beaumont?

We would appreciate any info on how to bypass the city without having to travel on toll roads etc. We don't mind going somewhat out of our way, it would seem worth it to avoid the big city traffic.

We'll be going through there on a Monday.

Thanks

That looks good to me, Carl. It's a mess any way ya look at it.
When we went from South Padre Island to the Hattiesburg rally a couple a years ago we just barreled right through downtown on I-10 and it wasn't too bad between ~9 to 11AM. Actually easier than we'd imagined.
