a/c and heater blower/fan question

I have had good luck oiling the bearings with a zoom spout oiler. I also flush the commutator and brushes with Caig F5 spray. Flushes out spent carbon
and leaves behind a light safe lubricant. You can get to the end bearing through the cooling hole. If the lube has dried this works well. If bearimgs
have heen squealing might be too late. There are several motors listed in the interchange. Maybe take old one to NAPA. to match.

I went through that drill a short time back.

First I ordered a new blower motor from Applied. It turned out to be a different configuration from the original (the motor was deeper into the
bracket) and didn't fit. I sent it back and then blew a large amount of dust out of my old motor, oiled it up, and ran it for a few months. It then
started to make noise again. I guess the bearings were too far gone to save with a fresh oil job.

I then picked up a new motor from my local parts house that fit fine with my original blower wheel. Some time later, the blower wheel got all wobbly
on the shaft and hogged out the hole. I then went through the process of finding a new wheel (not available by it's self) and ended up buying another
new motor with a blower wheel on it. It was the same motor I had received from Applied, but with a wheel attached to it that fit the AC box.

IIRC, the listing was for a '75 Toronado. I still have a next to brand new blower motor that doesn't fit my current setup.

I bought it from Merle's Auto Parts here in Tucson (Parts Plus)

I don't remember the part number, but the GMCMI Parts Interchange has a few numbers that might get you started:

4 Seasons 35587
Murray 208990 or 208971

Those numbers are for '73 - 76 coaches. '77 & '78 are different.

Best chance of getting the right thing is to order one from Applied (motor and blower assy)

This is a great example of the sort of thing that will be easier if you:
A - Are a GMCMI member and/or know how to access the part interchange list
B - Fill in a sigfile with at least the specifics of the coach.

All of us are interested to assist you, but it is more difficult if we have no idea what specific coach you have. Lots of things changed through the
years of manufacturing and some matter a lot.

Example: For some coaches, the blower motor for a '75 Toro is not correct.

A 26', finished by Coachmen would be a Royale. The TZE (VIN) would start with "368Vxxxxxx".

Scroll down some and you will find the place for a sigfile.
It will help if it has a real name so we can know who you are when we meet, a bit about the 78 Royale and include any major mods. A geographic
reference is also good because you probably have a brand new friend that is close by and a chapter you should hook up with as soon as practical.

'78 is probably why the fan motor was wrong. A lot changed in 77 and the HVAC was one of them.
