Hi All,
After a search that led me to the west coast, and on many phone calls and email chats, I drove by and looked at the 78 Eleganza II in Concord, NC today that was on eBay. Its a nice 40k mile original coach. Minimal rust - described as previously 1 original owner Bend, Oregon coach, original paint is OK with a fair amount of peeling throughout, roof looks good, floors felt solid, original interior is in workable shape, showers and such looked good but I wasn’t able to test, it has a new rooftop unit, newer appearing fridge. It started and ran pretty good with no effort, the air-ride leveling setup pumped up and leveled the coach in a short time, though it did deflate when I switched it to travel mode which was odd. I drove it around the block, and it was pretty solid in the test drive.
At the end of the day.. it runs and drives OK, it’s had the real basic stuff done, like fuel lines, brakes, etc but is going to need tires, batteries, airbags soon most likely and more to make it really. I’ve decided to buy it as I rather like the layout and have always appreciated the Eleganza look. I’ll need a ton of help on the mechanic side here in NC or on the east coast at least, I want to start upgrading the safety stuff promptly.
In the next few days I’ll bring it back to my home, and get it titled and clean it up for some photos to share. Thanks to all that have helped me understand a little about them so far (now I’ll need REAL help lol!)
Luke
