We started increasing our travel radius in the Palm Beach last week. We had a great trip. The first night was spent at Tyee Campground on the Umpqua River. The river was lovely but has a permanent advisory for toxic blue-green algae. Poison Oak abounds all around the camp. I'm not sensitive to it, but tried real hard to keep myself, the kids, and dogs away for sake of others. Thankfully this was just an evening stopping point about half way to our destination to break up the long drive after a full day at work and school.

Getting back on the road, we got lucky at the Dean Creek Elk Refuge. They aren't always quite so visible.

There's one bull in velvet, just getting started with his antlers.

We hit 101 in Reedsport and continued south, stopping here and there.

I love the southern Oregon coast. More rock formations than anything in the north, and there's no people or shops to waste money in! This was Memorial Day weekend at Arizona Beach just south of Port Orford, and there's no one there! It has extra dark sand that stays nice and warm even on a cool day, and grapefruit sized agates laying all over the place.

We then camped on the Chetco river at Alfred Loeb Park outside of Brookings OR. Our site was lame and the campground is a little "snug", but overall setting and the day use area is amazing. The whole place is an old growth Myrtle Tree forest, the likes of which you've never seen. My dad (a woodworker) couldn't quit scanning for a nice chunk laying around.

We daytripped down to Redwoods National Park and a few of the state parks along the way. Much was seen and enjoyed by the young ones.

The next day there was a car show in Brookings. We thought about taking the Palm Beach, but were too lazy to break down camp unnecessarily. Someone else had it covered! It's actually the owner of a paint/body shop: https://westcoastcustompaint.com/ . He had about 4 rigs there.

We saw a few other sites around Brookings, including Chetco Point Park. I highly recommend that one.

Mechanically speaking, it was very uneventful. In four whole days, I never got out any tools! I did need to use a zip tie on the way down. And on the way back we tried to use the Onan so we could microwave lunch, but it wouldn't crank. I know that old 12-pin connector has some iffy bits inside...

We drove home all in one day. I spotted another Palm Beach at rest area, but we were just zooming by. No time for a pic.
