6-way power seats

Has anyone installed 6-way power seats on the pilot / co-pilot seats? Can I
pick up a unit at the junk yard and bolt it between the seat and pedestal on
an after market seat? If so, what model car can the come out of?

I would like to get some height adjustment in the driver's seat. I also
thought maybe fine an air-ride seat would work.

We have powe seats, rumored to be from a Lincoln. Can't blieve what the dealer
said tho'.

I just put in a 6 way seat on the driver's side. The existing pedestal
was too high so I welded up another one that was lower. However, I am not
pleased with it. Can't adjust the seat pitch properly so I'm going to make
a new base which will be lower than the orginal and use the orginal swing
out section (have to cut off a section of the tube). I believe it will be
a simple operation being that I have all the tools and welding equipment.

What I plan on doing is measuring orginal seat installation and then
install the 6 way seat adjusted bottomed out. I installed the co-pilots
side with the existing sliding adjustments and base. Wife just loves it.
Have to put in the front spaces to raise the front part of the seat for
her. The pitch isn't just right. The orginal seats have the front cone
shaped spacers so they'll go back in
The pedestals and all the seats (4 captain and back bench/bed
combination were in good condition. I had to use my cutting torches to cut
the bolts that were rusted from being exposed to the weather underneath the
floor boards. I took out the seats from a 1990 GMC conversion van . Used
our coach on two trips since I installed them and what a comfort.

Remember to get the bases with the seats if you want to install them in
dining area.
You have to run a number 16 fused wire from the battery compartment to the
6 way seat. The six way seat didn't work because the wires that adjust the
seat were broken in the arm rest. Had to redo them.

Took out the seat belts with shoulder harnesses, also. Will install them
when I put it in the garage for the winter. Looks like they should fit
with minor hardware modifications.
PS. The reason you have to make a new lower base for the 6 way seat is
because of the electric motors that move the seat. It is higher than the
no adjusting.

Thanks Bob,

I take it that this is not just a unit that I can bolt between the captain's
chairs and pedestal? I already have a pair of flexsteel chairs to put in.

That is what I have now.

I just picked you the Coach form Mad Hatter muffler last night. Cost $372
for the system. Sounds much better, even without any carpet or furniture
inside, don't need earplugs now. And I'm no longer worried about CO coming
through those bolt holes in the floor.

I hope to get it back together this weekend(that's optimistic).
