A week after buying and driving a '78 from Arizona to Seattle, headed to Spokane with partners/friends Beth & Saha to pick parts from a Palm Beach listed in the Forum Marketplace. Seattle to Spokane, 275 easy miles. EricS is a long-time GMC owner, very helpful and a great host.

Camped in driveway. Woke up, made coffee, time to start wrenching.

Wearing all the right safety gear... I'll call my snow hat a helmet. Sandals are OSHA-approved on weekends.

Got lots of great parts - front interior panels and trim pieces better than what I had, and a set of original seats.

Most GMC owners are installing newer seats but I want the interior closer to 1970s origins. I'll have the Spokane parts seats reupholstered in orange velour (memories of my dad's '79 Cutlass), new foam and might as well add 12v seat heaters while they're apart. Seat restoration will take time, I'll post results in a separate thread.

Too bad the owner isn’t parting out engine/trans stuff. I need the wire from the kick down switch all the way to the detent solenoid. Looks like the previous owner cut the wire to the detent solenoid within the plastic wire protector (I haven’t researched where yet) and wound it up on the firewall. I should probably just make a whole new wire myself with factory connectors but busy redoing the interior from the bottom of the windows up (tired of 80’s Mauve everything).
