Regarding the 40SI:
I wonder if this was an option (or RPO) you could order when the coaches
were built. I'll have to check the glove box door tag and see.
Our '77 K has the 40SI alternator. Parts that fail are still easy to get and
inexpensive. Just passing this along for what it's worth.
You might check to see if there are any repair shops in your area that work
on school buses. This was a common application for the 40SI. The case is
bigger than the 27SI. Electrically, still only a 3 wire connection with an
internal regulator.
