"difference in Performance" that I was interested in was not mpg but the
difference in ability to climb 7% grades over the mountain passes at what
speeds with the two different sized motors. The group answered that
question - stick with the 455. So for me, that puts my options at 1973 to
76 only.

Out west, some states speed limits are back up to 75 mph that the freeways
were originally designed for. Course, people cruse at 80 and above in these
open spaces that we have to cross to get anywhere. Our current RV is wind
sensitive above 65. One of the advantages that I was looking for from the
GMC was to cruse at the speed limits and not be slowed down to much going
up the long 7% grades.

And thank you Patrick Flowers about California SB42 exempting vehicles made
before '74. I will pursue that further because if that passes, my choice is
a '73 so that I could modify it in California. And yes, I will contact Wes
Coughlin, Thank you again in my search to learn more about the my choices.
