I've never seen any that didn't have a coat of rust. And way too many have been stuck. These GMC's set a lot. As long as the springs aren't pitted. Clean, and lube the assembly. You'll be fine. As a note. Check the distributor shaft for side play. Of the top distributor bearing.

Thanks Bob.....i did clean it up but i dont like the condition of the springs nor the way the weights move [as i mentioned the springs i think are
weak]
