I took a good friends Cutlass 88 diesel and swapped in a 455 with a TH 400
transmission behind it. He wanted to tow a travel trailer sized consession
trailer. I added a tranny cooler and a 10,000 lb receiver hitch and air
shocks along with helper coil springs in the rear. He drove that thing for
several years after that. The only thing he didn't like was the 8-10 mpg.
Typical of a 455. If you want to play, ya gotta' pay. When Olds started
building crap like the alero, it signaled the end. I bet Ransom E. Olds is
twisting in his grave after he learned what Corporate did to his REO
Speedwagon. Pontiac and Saturn too. And Chevrolet builds stuff like
Chevettes, and Vegas, and Obama bails them out. They reward the taxpayers
by spending the bailout money in Communist China building Chevrolet cars
for them. Go figure. Global economy, you bet.
