2nd A/C Unit

My 78 Royale has a second evaporator and blower located in the very back
of the coach under the U-shape dinette. It runs off the engine
compressor and the blower is controlled with an on/off toggle switch. It
blows like a Lake Michigan gale, cools the coach very well, and I have
not had any overheating problems in my admittedly brief stewardship of
"Roy".

Now, I can hear you asking about part numbers, degree of difficulty,
installation procedures, etc. and I will answer truthfully; ... I
don't have a clue. It was there when I bought the coach out of Florida.
But, at least I can testify that it can be done successfully!

This sounds like the unit I mounted under the couch. I did the mounting
& ran the lines myself. I then had the A/C shop connect to the main
lines with compression T fittings. I have the information on the mfg,
model, cost & supplier, if anyone is interested.

I'm aware of a number of individuals installing a second evaporator unit and
fan in their coach's.

Jim Bounds also has experience with such units in his former job of
ambulance rebuilding.

It's well known that our engine driven A/C compressor has the capability to
handle several additional evaporator units, if desired.
