But it did cost me $2,010 to register GMC in California, $3,500 to
rebuild steering, $2,700 for new wheels & tires, plus the work I have
done replacing wheel bearings, replacing all carpeting, replacing
steering box (NAPA - still not happy), converting to r-134, etc. And I
haven't taken it anywhere yet. Why do I still love my GMC motorhome?

Sorry - not just steering, also new brake shoes & 2 new drums, plus I
figure add a 50% ripoff factor which is why I now do all possible work
myself. Plus it gives me me a chance to buy all these neat new tools,
shop press, pullers, etc. Jerry

Seven (7) Alcoa Aluminum wheels & Goodyear G159 225/75 R16 tires
including mounting, balancing, Alcoa hub covers, shipping, tax, etc.
Actually, $2,675 as I recall, with lifetime rotating, repair,
rebalancing as necessary. Life's tough when you just got off a turnip
truck.

Of the $2,010 first year registration fee more than half is sales tax.
Also includes a $300 out of state environmental impact fee which
California has now been directed by the courts to stop collecting so
will be refunded (but only if you ask for it). Annual renewal fee will
be less than $300. Also includes $200 penalty because I thought I had
thirty days to register but when a vehicle is brought in from out of
state you only have 20 days.
