Excellent question Doc,
The single most significant question to be asked by someone looking for
their "ideal" coach. And anyone having decided on the classic GMC ladies
has already taken a major step towards the Ideal coach.
I'm of little help to You here because I do not have experience of both.
My coach is 26' which is just right for me. I just hope it will be large
enough when I can full-time in it.
I recently spent a few minutes in a 23' and it seemed soooo small to me.
There are others who own the 23's who say it's just right for their
purposes.
Just keep asking and listening. Someone will tell You something that
will help you reach a decision.
Hopefully You'll have solicited some opinions and thoughts of others
with similar "choosing the ideal" considerations.

Can anyone enlighten me regarding the pros and cons of 23 vs 26 foot
coaches. The 23 Norris that Alex Sirum is currently advertising has
caught my eye and I have asked for more details. Any advise?

I appreciate your reply, along with everyone else's, and look forward
to others. I am especially interested in any performance differences
that there may be between 23 and 26 foot coaches. If anyone has any
history on the 23-foot GMC-Norris currently being offered for sale by
Alex Sirum, please pass it along.
Thanks in advance.

If you are trying to determine if which you should choose, I would suggest
checking out the floor plans of both models. I didn't have the floor plans
when I was looking, but I looked at them with side bath and rear bath, twin
beds, permanent bed, side dinette, front dinette, rear dinette in the 23 and
26 footers. I found more 26's than 23's, but the rear bath 23 is what I
liked. I looked for 3 or more years before I found what I wanted.
I also discovered while searching Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California,
that the GVW is the same on both, GVW 11200, Front at Ground 04500 and Rear
at Ground 07500.
So all I can say "Doc" is take your time and the one that catches your eye
may be the next one you see, and if you know a member of GMC Motorhome
International he/she would have access to the various floor plans to help
you make your decision. Maybe one of the 'Netters' with a scanner would
scan and send to you.

I recommend that you make plans to visit the GMCMI Convention @ Myrtle Beach
Mar 21-27, and especially try to be there during the coach open house times
Tue and Wed afternoon's.

Have you visited http://www.gmcmotorhome.com and looked at the various
floorplans?

Hi -- My husband and I had a 1973 Canyonlands (26') back in the late 70's,
which we got rid of a couple years later because of nonuse (big mistake).
We currently own a '77 Birchhaven (23') which we are restoring (slowly).
>From my point of view, I prefer the 26' because of the extra space. My
husband prefers the 23' because of ease of driving and parking. I really
notice very little difference in driving, but parking is definitely a
factor. I drove the 26' with no problems and I drive the 23' with no
problems. I'm 5'8" tall and weigh 145. I can imagine that maybe a little
tiny woman might have a little trouble driving either coach, if that is a
factor in your search. I also enjoyed our 26' because of the floor plan we
had, which was a rear "bedroom" with a side bath. Our current coach has a
rear bath with a tiny tub, which is perfect for our grandchildren but is
wasted space as far as I'm concerned.
It does seem to me that the 23' feels a little "tighter," possibly because
of the shorter length. I'm not much on the technicalities on that.
That's my input. Hope it helps.
