We chose a 23' because of the way we (two) travel. A 23' is about as long
as you can use as a large van or pickup. Sometimes, even that is tight and
requires some planning. We had a 22 1/2 SOB for 9 years and enjoyed the
ability to go almost anywhere with it. When we were talking to GMC club
members while we were making our decision, most of the people who traveled
extensively in there 26' used a tow vehicle, none of the 23' group did.
We use the driving seats as the dining and card playing chairs against a
plug in table that is mounted on the engine cover. The Dinette was replaced
with a couch that also has provisions for a plug in table. The tables [and
outside chairs] are stored in a locker behind the couch. We travel very
light so we have no roof pod. We travel in shorts and tee shirts, but
vacuum pack cold weather clothes in case we need them. We live and winter
in San Diego and started traveling from Mid may to Mid November since our
retirement two years ago.
We are happy that we chose the 23' for it matches our way of travel.
