Thanks, Gene. This is the kind of assessment I appreciate. After
reading Al's posting of the proceedure to change to 2-3/4 in the digest
tonight, it looks pretty complicated for little return. I believe I'll
stay with what I have, or try the asbestos .
Has anyone tried disc conversion on only the front bogie?

Don't bother with the 2 1/2" shoes. Pit of snakes since the spacing
will be wrong & major modification to make correct. Negative results
will occur....weak support etc. The 2 1/2" shoes will not give better
stopping even after proper modifications. Only longer operating life
