Has anyone used the 2-1/2 inch wide rear brake shoes. I have seen
comments about it but can not find manufacturer's/part numbers. To
simply use 2-1/2 in shoes from a C20 Chevy PU, or such, seems like
would cause a problem. The wheel cylinders would not thrust straight
into the shoe since the contact point would be half way across the
shoe, or 1-1/4 in. compared to the original 1 in.

I would like to get best performance from the rear brakes and can not
presently go to rear disc.

Help,
Bill

We ran with 2 1/2" rear brake shoes for almost five years until we went with
disk brakes last year. We had good brakes but they were still subject to
fading on long hills. When we installed disks I scrapped all of the longer
bolts, spacer plates and longer anchor pins, but I still have the written
instructions. If you are interested give me a call.
