Gary:
The coach is still for sale and you're right, I have wife problems with the
coach.
My wife wasn't real hot on the idea in the first place and then, on our
maiden voyage, the transmission went out. Bad deal made worse.
The coach is a 76 Palm Beach with the common 26-3 floorplan.During the 18
months that I have owned it I had nearly $6,000 of a variety of work done by
Darrell Winterfeldt. New airbags. fan clutch, front bearings, one knuckle,
fan clutch, steel gas line, new bilsteins, replaced carburator, replaced
distributor, replaced both mid axle brake assemblies with hd aseembly, and I
bought six slightly used E range Bridgestone all steel belted tires (had 500
miles and mfg in 1997). Even though the engine was rebuilt less than 5,000
miles prior, it had an automobile carb on it so it ran too lean and burned a
valve. Winterfeldt did a valve job on both sides. On my maiden voyage 0f
2,700 miles and with Castrol Syntec and Prolong oil additive, I used no oil.
I replaced the original interior with a blue gray upholstery. Put in new
matching carpet, raised the dinette 5 inches, put in window boxes and
miniblinds, replaced the side wall panels with white panels and insulated,
replace the counter top, new sink and 2 burner stove with a place for a
micorwave where the oven was(still have oven). Put two pull out drawers
under the sofa. Put a tilt up rear bed (in place of the facing sofas which
I still have) with a huge roll out drawer underneath. New power converter.
Put in a macerator. New fresh water pump. New electronic cruise control.
New 12 disk CD player and stereo. New fantastic fan in the rear. New
engine heater blower, new CB, new oil and temperature guages, new
alternator, new batteries front and rear, rebuilt steering box, rebuilt air
compressor.
It has a three way refrigerator, old but works perfectly. The 6.0 KW Onan
runs fine. It has one roof airconditioner. The paint is original and only
OK. The left front driver's window has a crack out of the line of sight. I
haven't had a chance to paint the dash yet. The front steering wheel, after
the steering box rebuilt, is not pointing straight and needs to be adjusted
when the front end is aligned.
I am asking $21,000 in the local paper. I have over $25,000 in it but I
will sell it to someone on the mailing list for $19,000. I live in
Highlands Ranch, a far south suburb of Denver. From Central Colorado
Springs, It is a 65 minute drive. Call me (303) 791-3317 day, (303)
773-3821 work, if you'd like to talk more about it.
