1975 GMC A/C Line

I'm in need of a small new A/C line for our coach. I don't know if the
broken line is original or was something made specific for the
circumstances over the years. I'd be happy with info on who can make a new
line if an original is not available.

Good morning Sir and welcome to the forum. Locally we can get AC lines repaired using our ends or replacements made at a good radiator shop that is
equipped to do aluminum welding. Either way if you take your old line a good radiator shop should be able to get you one.

Well of course I replied before looking at picture. It looks like it had been repaired before by flaring the end and making an extension. My
recommendation would be to drive the coach to radiator shop that does AC repair and let them replace all the lines and dryer since it appears to have
been exposed to air for a while. If you are equipped to repair AC yourself Jimmy K sells the OEM lines.

Ken,

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum.....

You will quickly find that the most valuable part of being a GMC owner is the community that it connects you to.

You are off to a real good start and I see you are working the forum as e-mail. I don't know if you can use the sigfile builder in the forum, but
someone here will know and fill that in. Your signature that you started with is real good, but including the year and model of the coach can be a
great help to us when we try to help you. These coaches are not all alike, apart from the 23/26 and six years of producing about 13k coaches, many
were upfit by different companies. This can make a big difference. You started with a real name and that is great, you put in a location and that is
good too because there may be someone in striking range that can be of assistance.

Something you should do as soon as you can, is to hook into the local chapter of owners. I am not sure which that is, but I will bet you get an
invitation to join one before long. This can be an amazing asset. I think it might be Flatlanders?

Speaking of such, this community is a big collection of very helping and supportive people. Do not be put off if they seem too forward. This is
simply because everybody here has a not-so hidden agenda. That agenda is to see to it that you get to enjoy at least both your coach and what it can
do for you. If you have not done any traveling by motorhome, you are in for a real treat. The support that can be provided here is awesome in the
true sense of the word. Many of us have participated in this support - Like Me - Both ways.

To this end, before you venture far from home, download and print the GMC Assist (aka Black's) list. If someone is on that list and you have a
problem, that is why we are on that list. If you do not have all the service and maintenance documentation, that can be download at GMCMI too.

Now, the only other community that I know of that is as supportive and helping as this is that of the watermen that are my world. For this reason, I
have taken to welcoming those that arrive here much as you might be there. So,

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Charles, we don't have a radiator shop in my small town, but I bet I can
find one in reasonable proximity. I will try that. Thanks for the
suggestion.

Some of the lines used in earlier years used solid aluminum tubes. In later years that was changed to flexible hoses. You can take your broken tube to a hydraulic hose shop and have them make up a hose with appropriate ends as a replacement.

Cinnabar and Applied have new line sets. Not sure if they cover all year variants, so best to call them directly. They should be made with newer
134a hose which is backwards compatible.

Thank you. I've decided to have the mechanic just replace the aluminum tube
with rubber, with the local John Deere dealer providing hydraulic end
clamping. I've suggested to the mechanic that they use the 134a hose, but
hopefully they were already headed in that direction.

Trying to get the coach running properly again after limited use over the
past few years. I would like to replace the Onan with an inverter
generator, e.g., the Onan 4500i. Just not sure it can be made to fit in the
generator slot as it appears to be about 4 inches too tall measuring from
the RV frame to the top of the generator enclosure. Has anyone else
converted to an Inverter for power?

Sean, Thank you for the photo. You have done exactly what I was hoping was
possible; i.e., remove the covering from the unit itself. Were you able to
purchase the generator without all of the unnecessary housing, or did you
just have to remove it? Email me at kdoyle28, if you will, I have
some questions about the installation. Ken
