Dear Netters,

What wonderful memories you have brought back to my wife and me...
In the summer of '50 between my junior and senior year at college
I bought a new 1950 Pontiac two dr hardtop...cream color with rust
top...while still single.

Returning to college in the fall as a senior (what else) I met a young
freshman girl at a skating party the very first Friday night...she was
wearing a plaid skirt, yellow sweater and bobby socks...with two
tone shoes.

Sunday I called her for a date...she didn't even remember who I was
but fortunately she agreed anyway. We had 21 dates the next 21 days
and the rest is history. We have been married 47 years now and the
Pontiac is still a cherished memory. The other girls in their freshmen
dorm really gave her a very envious hard time...Are you going out with
that Pontiac again?

Oh yes, there is a kicker here, too. Melrose had just recently broken
up an engagement to another young man and her dad had said that
she could not go out with any boy unless he had a brand new Pontiac.
The night she took me to her home in OK City, she made me sit in car,
ran in house, pulled her dad out to the car..and very eloquently explained
to him that I had a brand new Pontiac...(Actually she hollered at him...
SEE DADDY, SEE DADDY, HE'S GOT A NEW PONTIAC)!!

Again, thanks for the reminder of special memories and car payments!!

If we are heading down memory lane tonight let me recount my proud
ownership of a 1954 Pontiac Star Chief convertible, Red with a white top
and white upholstery!

This was the same year Jan and I were married!
