I have a GMC motor home , a 1986 Dually,and 1993 Chevy Dually. My rims
on the two Duallys will fit each other. I have Alcoas on the 93 and
steel on the 86. As soon as it gets warmer I will see if I can put one
of my steel dually rims on the GMC.

Been there and done that. It didn't work for us.

We had one of our wheels (16.5) to split. A friend had a GMC
Dually just sitting, so he gave us one of the wheels (16.5). We
thought that we had saved the bucks. Suddenly every trip we
would take we would lose one or two studs. It took three trips
before it hit us that the lug holes are slightly larger and have a
small ridge around them. We went to the junk yard and got a non-
dually 16.5 wheel. We have not lost another stud.

In addition to larger lug holes, it's possible that the center hole was
oversized. The GMC wheel is designed to carry the weight on the center hub,
and if the center whole is oversized, the lugs carry the weight. I returned
a set of non-Alcoa after market alloy wheels that were for a "dually" but
did not fit the hub properly.

There is an article in GMCMM describing this problem, and IIRC, the author
was a Mr. Wright that also sells Alocas and advertises in the GMCMM.
