1 ton wheel bearing availabilite. It's good.

It was mentioned that it's nice to have easy availability of the 1 Ton front wheel bearing a part stores. If those bearings are holding up well. And there aren't a lot of 1 Ton 4X4 trucks sold to start with. They more then likely will have to have it brought in over night. If they sell 1 a week. They'll carry 1. If the failure rate is higher. They'll stock 2. 3 a week. That's high demand/failure rate. That got me thinking about how many are carried on hand. So I called 2 of the AutoZone's, and 2 of the O'Rielly's here in town. The AutoZone stores both stock 2 at each location all the time. The O'Rielly both stock 2 at each location all the time. All the stores said the those bearing are among there better selling wheel bearings. And those sells back up demand. Personally That's not a comforting story for a Lifetime bearing. The term 'one ton' is a misnomer, that bearing is used on the HD 3/4 ton as well as the one tons'. They were used on probably millions of 4x4 GM
trucks. Try to find many that haven't been lifted, fitted with over sized wheels and tires and generaly abused. Having a couple in stock wouldn't seem
to be a stretch for the number out there. Comparing the OEM bearings and the 'one ton' seems to be on the surface to be like comparing the Pinta to
the Enterprise. They may both be bearings (or ships) but that's where the similarities end.

A friend got 2 new original bearing last week at a parts store in his town. The 75 GMC has 154,000 miles on it. Bearings have never been serviced. Knuckle to bearing press, and bearing is fine. But he decided to put in new bearings. Dave Lenzi, and Jim K at Applied. Sell the bearing with or without a reworked knuckle. The original bearing hasn't been the problem. It was how GM machined the surface that the bearing was pressed into. In the knuckle. Get a reworked knuckle from Dave, or Applied. That's what I did. And I will never out live that bearing. Or service it again. As I said before. I brought up the pros/cons of both systems. In hopes that each owner can make the best choice that makes them the most comfortable. Bob Dunahugh
