Rear Hatch/window removal

I have to get my floor up for my next phase in mechanical work. I also need to save the bath module and would like to get the closet out in one piece to pattern a new one with superior materials.

now to the point, I have two ways to accomplish this, play the shell game of moving closet and bath forward to remove rear floor then move them back aft to remove the front...or...remove the back hatch and take them out like GM put them in.

I prefer to remove them completely and pull the hatch. I have all the fasteners out and the ladder removed...how does one separate the sealant without cracking something important?

Has anyone successfully accomplished this?

thanks!

You have the rear interior all removed? There's a connector there for the license plate light. If you're at that point I think it's probably just stuck on the seal. Someone on here just did theirs btw, maybe they can help.

Oh yeah, it’s gutted. The driver side corner loosened and move about an inch. The passenger side corner is a bit more stubburn, my mallet swing is impeded by the propane tank housing. I've started removing it, one step forward two steps back (but it had to come out anyway, so alls well that ends well).

I am curious though, about how much does this thing weigh? It’s me, my father in law and my wife working it at the moment if need be I can call in some neighborly reinforcements.

Also curious if anyone sells new seals for it...though I haven’t yet checked any of the community parts dealers yet.

Ken,

I was about to give you a wrong answer based on what I saw when I helped to open one.

If you look in the parts manual at paged 23-6 it call out a seal. It gives nothing but a part number and 3/8 OD X .120 wall. X 210" cut length - so I guess it is a piece of rubber tubing.

Thanks, I'll let you know what I find once its out.

I am trying to take out the rear window panel also. 5 of the screws are rusted and the heads had to be drilled off. The rear drivers corner has come out about an inch. The little panel light wiring was actually pinched in the panel edge and would not reach it's intended location and was just hanging there. Not sure if that was factory job or some PO. Did you ever get it out? How much does it weigh? Any issues or methods? Thnx.
