Hi all,

Cross-posting from Facebook.

Does anyone have original curtain fabric for 1973 painted deserts? It's geometric, photo swatch attached.

I'm looking to get a more complete sample so I can have an artist recreate it, then we can get custom fabric printed. I would provide the pattern file free of charge. I can send it to Billy Massey so it's preserved on his website.

I am also talking to shag carpet vendors to see if I can get the original carpet recreated. I'm sure there will be some sort of minimum order quantity for a custom job. Each coach needs about 15-20 yards I expect.

Would anyone else be interested in original style shag carpet for Painted Desert models?

If somebody ends up providing enough material to capture a repeating pattern, I can help with creating a vector file (high resolution scan then outlined and converted to a vector file). I'd be interesting in cutting the pattern onto panels (plastic, wood, or metal).

Hmmmm. I have a 78 model with that same shag carpet. If you havent recieved what you need let me know. I will stop by my storage this weekend and check out the motorhome. I am not sure but it might heve the original curtains.

I just checked. While it has the original orange shag carpeting and orange furniture sadly the drapery was not original. Apologies.

Hi George,

There was a 73 painted desert kept as a parts coach by Mr Lombardi in Lockport NY until he passed. My brother and I looked at his 'good' coach but found rear frame rust and so passed. The painted desert was in excellent original condition and about a year later a guy named Jim stopped by asking questions about mine, turns out he bought that painted desert and lives nearby in Amherst NY.

I tried to reach him shortly after to see if he wanted help moving it and never was able to get ahold of him.

I'll PM you his phone number, maybe you will have better luck. Interior was extremely original.

Todd

Not sure what you're planning for your restoration, but if you intend to "upgrade" your upholstery, will you let me know? I am trying to get my Kingsley back to the original orange corduroy, but I've been piecing it back together from multiple vehicles. If you are reupholstering I could give you all the frames so you don't have to pull the corduroy off for the reupholster (and I would prefer the original orange). I also plan on removing the "upgraded" white faux leather upholstery done by the Co-op in the 23 I'm purchasing, so if you're interested in that look, those would also be available (I plan on putting the orange corduroy in the Birchhaven as well).
