The factory mirrors aren't bad. However, I've been spoiled by the power folding camper mirrors on my 6.2L Sierra and the manual folding camper mirrors on my GMT900 before that. I'd like something that is tight to the body but has a lower convex mirror I can point at the rear tires. Extendable would be nice but I have a rear camera. Folding would be nice but they're high enough they don't usually get in the way.

Are these the ones most people are semi-happily using?

I just ready the description in your link - its says "not compatible with GMC"
 
You can buy them directly from Ramco. I was going to get the ones with the cameras in the lower mirrors until I saw the price. Camera option was as much as the mirrors.
 
As far as I can tell the difference is the drilled pattern in the arms. I'm ok not using the arms. I can weld some up out of stainless if necessary. I just want decent mirrors. Plug and play would be nice but $450+ for GMC motorhome specific mirrors seems a bit high.
 
Mirrors are on my list of replacement items as well but at $450 plus exchange and shipping to Canada they will have to be a used pair or a set of heads that i incorporate to the stock base.

Personally i dont like the chunky looking Ramco supports but to each their own......
 
Sadly, the $480 Ramco mirrors were ordered from Applied. They were dropshipped from Ramco. No useful fasteners included of course because the later models have studs and the mirrors are expecting conical fasteners. So I'll see if I can find some 5/16-18 conical nuts.

I would contact JimK at Applied so that he is aware and can add that to his site plus he may be able to help you with the mounting.
 
i would say you need to have a call and talk to Jim K or nick in person.
The reason a person would order ramco’s from him, would be because it has what you need to fit to the gmc.

jim K is usually the 1st to point that out. And secondly will point out that if you dont call he cant help

if he does not sell them with what you need to install them, Then we should all know because you can buy mirrors anywhere that dont fit and need fabrication.

Doing a little research. Looks like 78 uses studs and acorn nuts for mirror mounts. There is supposed to be a little machining done on 78 arms to accomidate the acorn nuts.

gmc arms are not the same as standard ramco arms. I have not reached out to ramco to see if they will sell gmc arms at the same price as regular ramco
Mirrors/arms. They are selling standard mirrors on ebay for $270? Guessing gmc venders have an agreement with ramco.

interested to find out.

i am now also wondering if there is a standard bolt pattern for rv mirrors ans if there is a market to do a 3d printed adaptor to adapt from out gmc angle side and bolt pattern to that.

Didnt someone make an adapter for their GMC Ramco mirrors....i thought i saw a pictorial on it someplace along with drawings?
 
I don't remember what I measured the Ramco arms on before, but the pattern was different but the arm was identical. So the casting was the same but where the pattern was drilled was different.

Ramco does/did/do sell the mirrors direct. They sell all of their other stuff direct also. I have bought plenty of their other stuff from them over the years. Years ago I was actually at their building, not sure if they're still there or not.

The later coaches have 5/16" studs. Applied even asks what year the mirrors are for. I assumed they'd send parts for the mirrors to make them work. The mirrors were drop shipped from Ramco. Still waiting on the rest of the crap from two weeks ago.

I loathe talking to Nick on the phone. In the event you get to talk to Jim Kanomata it is pretty great.

I ended up making my own conical nuts from 304 stainless for now. I'm not terribly happy with what I made so I might see if Fastenal has something fancier. More interested in getting it drive-able right now.

There's a guy on YouTube that 3D printed some GMC mirror mounts and even did some stress testing. I think he's a fellow Oregonian too.

Those were for generic GM type mirrors [which is a great option] but i thought i saw someplace were a guy made bases to fit mirror miss match...wish i could find it.... :(
