We are again doing the Windshield Replacement Clinic at the Fall GMCMI Convention in Corunna, MI. Anybody attending the convention on Saturday and Sunday September 23, or Sept 24 is welcome too stop by and watch them work and ask questions. The installers have done so many of these over the years that they do not mind answering the questions. They are here to share their GMC experience and also to replace windshields for anyone attending the convention.

I am the windshield logistical interface between the installers, the manufacturer, the shipping company, and the GMC consumer at the convention (that is you). This will be no different than what we have done in what I believe are 12 previous conventions.

So, If you are in need of windshields and want one or both replaced at the convention, contact me (Ken Burton) at GMCwindshield@gmail.com . I will respond from that email address with a long form letter laying out what I hope is everything you need and will also take your orders there. If after, receiving and reading the form letter, you still have questions, you can send them to me at GMCWindshield@gmail.com or you can call my unlisted phone number that is included in the form letter.

The cutoff date for all orders and changes is currently Sept 11, 2023 (subject to change) So get your orders in As Soon As Practical.

Ken Burton
GMCMI Windshield Clinic Coordinator.

I have every intension in being there but you never know . I could end up in the hospital again or they might show up early like Mississippi.

Kim tried to get me to stay home and let Larry do it. So I drove 950 miles one way, Just to find out Larry already did it. I will let you know if I can not make it.

The Mississippi ones came in pre-made heavy card board containers. They would only handle 6 in each because of the sharp bend in the windows. I like the hand made wooden ones that we always got before out of Elkhart, and Oregon much better. I think I will specify that if I can.

Thanks Larry for the help.

I am confused as to what you are offering to do?

I currently have 24 on hold to be packed in 2 hand built crates of about 800 pounds each. I never know the actual ordered number until the cutoff date which is Sept 11th. Usually it is in the neighborhood of 22 to 30.

THE END IS NEAR

September 11th at 6PM
is the cutoff for orders for windshields at the GMCMI rally in Corunna.

I always have a couple of late people that are disappointed when they contact me after the cut off date.

So if you are interested in having your windshield(s) replaced at the GMCMI rally in a couple of weeks, get to me now BEFORE it is too late.

Contact me at: GMCwindshield@gmail.com .

Ok, I checked everything from the 21st to the 31st on both inbox and replys sent out. I have nothing. I also checked my personal email which I never gave out. Nothing,NADA. Please resend that request again. I had one other person contact me yesterday saying that he had sent his request twice. I have not had a problem before with this gmail address and we have used it for several years.

So please re-send your request to gmcwindshield@gmail.com . Also copy it to n9cv@comcast.net. (my personal address). One way or the other we will get it. I will send an acknowledgement back today if I receive it on either ID.

A few years back gmail was dropping emails when they got busy, but I thought they fixed that problem. I have no idea what happened here.

I am glad we caught that one. After I finished yours I found your "missing" one, the other missing one, and 3 rd one. The problem was on this end and not with gmail. The three incoming emails were put in a folder named 'IMPORTANT". I have never seen or used that folder before. Why or what that folder is about I have no idea, but for now I will just check it along with the inbox.

I sure hope there are not any more "lost" emails. I sent confirmations out to each person as I added them to the order and installation list. If someone ordered windshields and did not get a confirmation with scheduled time, then please contact me ASAP because I do not have you on my order list. Saturday when we start the installations it is too late to fix an order problem. The stocking warehouse is 178 miles away and closed on weekends.

If something else can go wrong, it will always happen to me.

Thanks Ken, I'm not sure how they ended up in that folder, but glad you found it and some others to boot :)

Ken,
I will be available to receive the delivery of windshields if you are not available.
Larry :)
Well, the windshield are on their way. They were picked up Friday and I asked for a Wednesday delivery in Corunna, MI. It is only 178 miles. I think the trucking company should be able to make it in 5 days even if they they get lost a couple of times along the way.

The guys are slightly complaining that I packed the schedule too tight. I do not know, I remember one rally where they worked until midnight so they could go home earlier. As soon as I contact the people for their concurrence,, I am going to move a couple of people from Saturday into Sunday. When that is done I will forward a .pdf with all of the information that Kim can print for you. It is consolidated down to two pages.

Ken,
Is this the same gang of installers I video'd in Chippewa Falls?
If so, greet them for me. The windshield they installed is still splendid.

Thanks Ken, I'll checking in on them. Maybe John Roach would also look in on them. He seemed to enjoy it at the Chippewa rally. Either way we've got a nice spot for them to work at the end of one of the buildings.Under cover if they wish but will be asking them if they could take it outside, because we are sharing the building with men's tech and noise could be an issue. I'll talk with them and see what we can work out. Get well my friend.

I will call you. Inside is much better this time of year for several reasons. They could move a couple of coaches outside if necessary or be quiet when a seminar is going on. They do not make much noise anyway. It is also better inside for the GMCers watching the clinic too. They stay longer and do not have to bring their own chairs. These guys are flexible but we need them inside for most of the time if at all possible. Maybe we schedule few outside around the seminars. Do you have the seminar schedule? Let's look at it and see.

I also do not want to be moving a 900 pound crate of windows around once it is opened. I also am planning to be there if possible. If I am not, you do not have to be there. Just get them set up and be available by phone if something comes up. They have done this enough times to know on their own what they are doing. It is the same 3 or 4, with Paul in charge, that have done this for many years.

I will call you. on Monday

For the others here watching here, I thought you might want a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes to see what it is to schedule and run an event like this and to see one of the people involved with this small two day piece. Larry, and the vouunteerrs are already there setting thing up and fixing unexpected problems.

In my small piece it is not just take orders and place them with the manufacturer. There things like coordinating with the installers, the warehouse building appropriate shipping crates, working with the trucking companies, working with the hosting site owners, and volunteers like Larry and many other things. One time at the last minute they could not get them shipped from Oregon due to forest fires, so at the last minute we had to get three separate orders from Arizona, Florida, and Indiana to meet our requirements on time. Being a week or even a couple of days late is not an option. No one at therally ever knew because it came off as planned. There is always something. This is just a small issue that Larry, who is already at the site as part of the set up crew, and I will easily fix.

This is just one small piece of GMCMI putting on a convention. Kim Weeks does one heck of a job pulling all of the pieces together. BTW, the volunteers will start the morning of the last day tearing it all down and placing everything into I believe 21 large shipping crates for the next rally in Texas.

If you are not interested just tell me and I will take my small piece of it off line in the future.

Yes,
Paul, Drew, and I believe Jamie instead of Paul Jr, Jamie was at the Spring rally replacing Paul Jr. It might be all 4 of them. I am not sure.

I gave Paul a copy of your video on a thumb drive right after you made it. I played it for him and his wife. They both liked it. I do not know if Drew and Paul jr ever saw it. I will ask.

I had a guy call asking about getting Paul to come to his place and put one in. He had a local guy replace a gasket and replaced the one side which is not all the way to the center. The other side he broke. Coach Glass sent him another one for free and now the installer refuses to install it. Unfortunately he is too far away for Paul to go there and fix his problems, but I did refer him to your video and told him to have whoever he get to fix his problems to watch that video first . I also refer everyone that asks about windshields to that video. Many of them say they have already watched it. We all are very happy you made it.

Right now I have you scheduled for 3 PM on Saturday. The crew or I will telephone you if something changes. I might have to change a few people to Sunday if there is a conflict with their seminars. First let me work it out with Larry and Paul. I am a disadvantage here because I have never seen the facility. If I or the installation crew need to change something we will telephone you and get your agreement to the change.

If you do not hear from me you are on for 3 PM Saturday.

The seminar conflict has been resolved. So the schedule for now remains as I told everyone. They may ask the last one or two of the day to defer to Sunday morning. The windshield clinic will be in the opposite end of the building where they are holding the Men's seminars. we will drive the coaches in the opposite end of the building. I hope to be there and meet everyone. Several people I only know by name and I will have never met them in person.

I just got word that the windshields were delivered to the site on Monday. So for those who ordered them, your new windows are in the building waiting for you. Two days early than I asked for. Now all that is left is to get them installed this weekend.
