Made by some outfit in California (I have it written down somewhere), they
give you an extra-low 1st gear, a slightly low 2nd gear, and of course normal
3rd gear.

Rick: Can you track down the name and number of the outfit?

The January 1986 issue of MotorHome describes John Kilgores gear set. I do
not have a phone number but his 1986 address was:
718 Jamestown Road Burbank, CA,91504.

My gears were installed in 1990 and I have always been pleased with the
results. First gear is 2.75 vs 2.48 stock. Second gear is 1.57 vs 1.48
stock. No change in third gear.
