Which engine ?

We recommend the 403.........
on the other hand, being a Scotsman, buy the cheaper of the two...

Might as well start a flame war. I agree with rick, hands down the 455 with
to many reasons to fully list. Big blocks( yes the 403 is a small block)are
always tougher, produce more low end torque (where you really need it), and
have the meat around the cylinder bores to dissipate heat better without
warping. If really want to know which one is better ask the authority Joe
Mondello, 455 is the only way to go.

I, and I'm sure others, would like to know what attributes/features
individuals feel each engine has vs. the other one that makes it better.

I do not have any experiences with the 403 but the 455 in my 76 Glenbrook
will maintain it at 70+ MPH up the highway while pulling a 4K lb. trailer.
I also have always believed that there is no substitute for cubic inches
when it comes to engines.
