Is it possible the maximum allowable front axle weight was set at the
maximum weight limited by the tires at the time of production? Does any
one know for positively sure this is not the case? Just because it is
written down in some 25 year old literature or even 2 year old
literature, does not make it fact. I only ask this as I am considering
moving more weight forward. I do not know what the impact will be on
weight loading yet and I may still change my mind.
I also ask this to coincide with maximum allowable towing capacities.
Are the capacities still valid or is there room for adjustment. New
generation tires, wheels and the fact that towing can now include cars
with 4 wheels down. No hitch weight but good tow weight in some cases.
It would seem to me that any number that is 25 years old would be
suspect in circumstances of today.
Just wondering.
