Got my sending unit off my poor old (cracked) fresh water tank and ordered a
new replacement tank from Gateway. The gasket pretty much decinigrated when
I pulled the 5 screws and popped off the sending unit from the tank. I was
going to use RTV (or Silicone Sealer) if the new tanks good and flat (should
be here tomorrow). If not I need something good like a silcon rubber about
1/16" -1/8" thick and about 3" in dia.. Any thoughts on what I should use in
making a new one and where to get it? Auto parts stores only carry normal
paper type sheet gasket material.

If you decide to use 1/16" silicone rubber as a gasket, I have excess
sheets of it that you can have. Stop by my office or house if you need
it. John, '76 Palm Beach, Omaha

Nate, how much does Gateway charge for their replacement fresh water tank?

Thanks!

Patrick,
They were the cheapest @$219 and I called all over the place. Most
everyone else was $240-$256 range. Should get it today since they are only
one state away. I'll let you know if it's a direct replacement (as I assume
and hope it is). Also I purchased all new clear braided 1/2" and 2" hoses
for the water lines and stainless steel (excellent quality) hose clamps. If
I'm gonna do it I'm gonna do it right! Think I'll test the drain valve and
the pump too while I have all the uglyness exposed and have easy access to
it. Even thought about painting the whole (hole?) area with a good enamel to
seal it up.
