Several months ago one of the netters posted a quick and easy fix for rain
leaks. The product is made by SEM and is called CHIP GUARD that can be
bought at your local auto paint supply store. The part number is 39803. It
is a spray on plastic that dries clear. I have had a pesky leak around my
large rear window for years. Using caulk would stop it for maybe a year,
then it would open up again. I would have to dig out all the old caulk and
replace it with new. My leak was around the seal of the bolted on rear
"door" and two of the bolts. This time I left the old caulk in and sprayed
on the chip guard. I sprayed on three light layers, it dries quickly, then
water tested it. It still leaked, so I sprayed on 10 more light layers,
water tested, no more leak. It has been approx. 4 months and is still
holding. Since it dries clear you don't notice it unless you stand on my
rear bumper and look real close. I don't remember the price, but, with me
being a cheap penny pinching tightwad, I'm sure it wasn't very much. I
almost forgot, I had a minor leak at the top of the windshield, sprayed an
equal amount in the crevice between the body and the black windshield rubber
and that leak was eliminated. I don't remember the name of the original
netter, but, thanks for the advice.
