You're right. If burning effluent were against the law it would start
in CA. On the contrary. All of the Spruance class destroyers have these
type of systems on them so they can burn the effluent in those ports
where there are no sewer hook ups on the piers. Waste is pumped through
a macerator into holding tanks. From there it is pumped into DFM fired
incinerators and out the stacks goes the exhaust.
