Has anyone used or installed the Vintage air under dash unit in their coach. after some discussions around out group I am finding either totally
remove and start over on the a/c or bypass it and install another system, so I found this "old skool" under dash unit and wanted to get a flavor of
the group.
thanks

I had the Vintage air unit in my 74 and was very happy with it.

I installed one of the under dash units just like you describe in the glove box space after removing the ill-fitting in-the-way glove box door. Had it
mounted on brackets to floor at first over engine hatch but angle wasn't right and hoses were unsatisfactorily routed. Used hydrocarbon refrigerant
and it actually threw tiny ice cubes at me. This is the same Sears add-on unit my dad and I installed in a Falcon station wagon back in 1969.

Remounting over in glove box cavity removed the hoses from view and raised the unit for better condensate draining, which runs out and drips on the
condenser by the electric fan. Bit of a distant reach to turn it on until I modify the GMC wiring to control the unit. Have not returned to the
project yet this year to refill the leftover cavity with shelves or panels or cup holder or whatever. Film at 11...or maybe tomorrow :)

Tomorrow turned into a week...life...sorry for delay in getting these taken and posted :?
Sears evaporator my dad and I installed in his Falcon in 1969 is getting a second life and still throws ice cubes at you! I ran the condensate drains
out and strapped the end of the hose to drain on the condenser and auxiliary fan blade.

We have sold many of the units and find that using it as an aux unit so you
can maintain the defrost option in tact,
Need to realize that a time will come when one needs to sell it.
Hard to believe that there are coaches without furnace. We had to do it at
big expense as we had to run the duct through the lower cabinets, etc.

My coach apparently spent its entire previous life in
the San Antonio, TX area and some prior owner took
the furnace out. Exhaust ports remain (open).
