In an earlier posting, I let folks know that this is the unit that I bought after looking at alternatives and talking to Wes.

It's a great performing unit - especially for the price. You can get remote metering and a temp sensor that helps t avoid
overcharging. The one drawback that I found to the unit is that if your genset initially puts out too high or too low of a
voltage, the TrueCharge stays offline. The only way that I've found to get the charger to actually kick in once htis happens
is to shut everything down and re-start. I'll let you all know what the cause of the charger staying offline, even if I cycle
the AC mains via the breakers, when I figure it out. Otherwise - it's a great little unit. From what I've read in the various
12V handbooks, the 40+ is just about the right size for 2 Trojan 105s. I normally try to discharge to 30% capacity and
recharge to 80% when we're boondocking. After the 80% point the charger reduces the charge rate so that using the genset
becomes pretty inefficient.

Yes it is. It's light, fairly small, mounts in the cabinet just fine, and does a great job of charging the batteries.

It's possible. I'll check today and let you know what I find. It isn't a burning issue for me, but I do want to know what's
up.

That was the unit that Wes was raving aobut in one of the last issues of
his newsletter, was it not... Henry?

Could it be a time related thing? No AC, for a certain period of time,
which just happens to coincide with the time to shut down and restart?

It looks like the problem may have been due to the alternator putting out voltage when I turned on the genset and charger. The
charger goes offline of it finds another power source supplying power to the batteries.

In any case, the problem is gone (at least for now).
