Chances are pretty good that you have a bad ground in your dash. I spent a
long time looking for mine - cleaning connections etc. Ed Osburns' spent a
half day. Added another ground. The rpoblem was still with me. Installed a
new stereo and the problem went away (but I added more grounds!).
You could also have a blown dash fuse.
