Hi all, Just back from our short trip. The Pumpkin-Rose ran great!! Only
went 1227.8 miles,(the wife and I got sick 10 days out of the three weeks we
were there, Guess it was the clean air there!! Lots of smoke/smog from the
fires there) Used 146.502 gallons of fuel at an avg. of 1.779 a/gallon. Did
switch from super to reg.+ after third fill.(2 bucks a/gal. was too much)
Which all avg. to 8.380 miles to the gallon. Kept speed mostly at 70 with a
peak of 85 till my side seat driver started talking. Engine temps. ran on
1/4 mark and below 3/8 of OEM temp scale on peaks of hills(60-68mph)
thur-out AZ. with dash air on, with out side temps in the 115s, In CA. temps
dropped to about 85-90 and engine temps dropped slightly below 1/4 mark.
Tranny temps ran in the 190s in AZ. and about 170-185 in CA. with peaks on
hills about 215. Used a quart and 1/4 of oil thur-out trip. When we left AZ.
had both dash/roof air on, after about 7 hours Onan gave up the ship! To me
it sounded like it was starving for fuel, when we got to Antioch,CA. checked
fuel filter on Onan all was clean, jumpered fuel pump and it was a no go. So
off to T. C.s RV in Bay point CA. he advertises specializes in GMC
motorhomes, he had about 8 GMCs and about 3 sobs there, was going to get a
six wheel alignment there($300) but he asked why I thought I needed it and
said if rear tires are wearing good which it is, all should be OK, so ended
up not doing it. He did say I should check the pins, and that my front end
was raised and I should lower back down, but even with the little play I
have in streeing I feel it tracks and handles cross winds really good so not
sure what I'm going to do yet. Anyway got a Onan filter/fuel pump for
$107.00, I installed and all was great again. Ran Onan/roof air for about 5
hours on return trip. Did the propane thur-out trip/stay for the frig. which
stayed cool, guess the false wall behind frig. helped alot. Used the solar
panel I got from P.O. to keep house batteries charged for first 7 days there
and it worked great just plugged it in and it charged when needed. Then
plugged into ext. cord for remainder of stay. Anyway I just love driving our
Pumpkin-Rose but still waiting for the no extra cost trip!! Oh yea my air
pump is still hanging in there, started losing more Tk. air press. guess
I'll have to break out tubing kit from cinnabar that I got from P.O. and do
more checking! Anyone have any info on replacement driver/pass. chairs?
