G'day,
Ken Frey pulled the OEM vent out of Double Trouble with the trans installed, tapped the hole with 1/8 inch pipe tape and screwed in
a 90° fitting with a hose barb connection.
He coated the tap with grease to hold as much of the aluminum schwarf the tap cut out as possible and vacuumed the tapped hole when
he was finished.
If you look at the photo below you will note that any machining schwarf will fall into the chain area and be carried back to the
pan. In my opinion performing this operation will not produce enough to cause any problems. Ken installed the fitting in Double
Trouble in 2007 and to date the transmission works fine.

HOWEVER, be careful when tapping the hole not to screw the tap in too deep as you could break off the baffle under the vent.
