Towing lights the easy way

When we purchased a Mini Cooper S Clubman to use as a tow car I did not want to cut into the factory wire harness to connect tow lights to the GMC (now Prevost). I also did not want to go the route of cutting holes in the tail light housings for an additional socket and bulb.

I liked the idea of magnetic mount lights mounted on the roof of the low Mini, but really disliked the string of wire that went from those lights to the tow light socket on the coach. Former GMCer Steve Ferguson showed me some great battery operated wireless magnetic led lights that I can now recommend to you all no matter what you tow. A small radio transmitter on the end of a short wire plugs into the tow light socket on the coach and can then be mounted anywhere via its magnetic base or wire ties. It is powered by the 12vdc power wire in the tow light socket. The. Magnetic mount lights have a built in radio receiver and are powered via AA batteries. I use rechargeable batteries that seem to last a loooong time in this application. A switch on these lights turn them on, off or to a test setting so you can confirm battery strength and to make sure all the LEDs are functioning properly.

In use, all you do is put the lights in place and turn them on. Anytime you apply the brakes, or turn signals, or turn on the lights, those signals are transmitted to the magnetic lights which are really bright and warn following drivers of your intent. Slick, easy, no wire hassle and no cutting up your tow car. Highly recommended.

They are available on ebay for $100 to $130. We had a set around at the airport. I haven't used them in a few years. Had a problem keep1ng
batteries in them. Made by Blazer I think.
