Boy is it hard to stamp out a myth once it gets started. unless the
Toronado had a diesel engine before the 1981 model year it was not a
converted gas engine and nothing is similar. The 1981 and later 350DX diesel
engine was a true diesel engine. It produces its torque at a low, low 1600
RPM, a real stump puller. Turbo charge it and it should be fine, although a
bit heavy. It is not fragile by any means and as I noted earlier in a long
explanation, Joe Mondello makes a fine conversion kit for the 350DX block to
comvert it to a super power gas model
