Ed there is an old saying that an expert is someone a long way from home
with a briefcase. If that person advised you to install the D rated tires
than I would surely not label him an expert. General MOtors put over
$100,000,000 in designing the GMC motorhome and in my opinion did a superb
job. The proof is the longevity of the coach and its still fresh styling.
They recalled the D rated tires for a safety reason. They would not take
the side wall flexing.
When it comes to tires, it does not take a rocket scientist to understand
the technology. D rated tires do not cut the mustard, and E rated tires
without steel belted sidewalls may not either.
If you want to risk your coach and your life, use the D rated tires. Its a
free world. But please don't advise others to do such a crazy thing and
don't cry when an accident happens and you have a big repair bill for the
coach and maybe for you or a family member.
I had a D rated tire blow out at only 30MPH. It sounded like someone had
fired a rocket launcher at the rear of the coach. It was not nice. I
shudder to think what may have happened at 65MPH on the interstate in
traffic. The blast was so severe that it lifted the coach off the ground,
tore part of the generator door off, destroyed an air bag and fittings, the
skirt and blew the tire entirely apart. The coach instantly bottomed out
from the loss of air.
>Hope your E tires don't backfire on you. Like I said, I took an experts
>opinion.
