I know there was conversation about this recently, but my Net connection was a bit
off and on and I think I missed most of the responses.

We bought a 78 Kingsley (take delivery in about a week). One of the first things I'm
going to do is Alcoa wheels and Michelin tires. The original equipment tire was a D
Load Range tire. I talked to the local tire dealer and found that the 225R75 16 is
an E Load Range tire with an all steel casing. Supposedly the steel casing allows
the tire to run cooler and the E Load rating would allow a little lower air pressure
that might make for a softer ride.

Any recommendations from you veterans?

Clark:

I had original steel wheels with Michelin XPS tires on our 78 Royale and
changed this past July to Alcoa wheels and Bridgestone R-265 series
tires (225/75-R15) based upon all the good reports I had heard (i. e.
price is right, ride is smoother, they balance easier and stay balanced
and Bridgestone allegedly spends more money on R & D vs. other Michelin,
etc.).

I paid $110/tire plus shipping ( -----Original Message-----

Paul Bartz; Are you sure you quoted the tire size correctly in your message
of 3Dec1997, as being 225/75-R15? 'R-15' designates this tire is for a
15" diameter wheel. Also in the same message, in regard to the "rutted
pavement wiggle", the front wheel track is narrower than the rears, not
slightly wider, as you stated in your message. Have a good day. Bob Drewes

Hi Bob:

That 15" was a typographical error. It is as you suggest 16". And yes,
you're right again on the rear track being wider vs. the front. Thanks
for catching. That's part of the beauty of e-mail, one can not only see
something in black and white, but correct one who gets their mouth in
gear before the brain realizes it!!! I continue to be awed by the way
e-mail facilitates communications.

A good day to you also.

Paul
