WEll said Ed-- BUTTTT----

You may have just been lucky, or as you said you are presumadly keeping
correct pressures in the tires for the weight on each wheel. As you well
know I'm sure, many vehicles going down the road do not have sufficient
air in the tire, or maybe at some time in their history have not and
thereby weakened the side wall during that time, or maybe the tires have
sat in the sun, and in high ozone areas for long periods of time. Tires
take often heavy punishment from many different driving conditions and
many different kinds of drivers, who may, or may not look after them too
well.

You obviously are a careful person and may never have aproblem, on the
other hand who knows. I think how ever for many at least, the heavier E
rating gives a wider margin of safety. Actually Michelin is no longer
making the 8.75R16.5 in a D range XPS, but only in a E range.
Just my opinion,
Claude
