Looking for tires and I have read all the info I can find on the list. I
have also called most tire shops in the area. The recommended size for
tires are 225/75-16. There was also some talk about using 235/85-16s.
These look huge. Can I use 215/85-16s? They look closer the same diameter
as the 8.75x16.5 and just a little narrower. Is there a down side?

Thanks

225's are the correct replacement. I bought 235's and have a 10% spedo
error. At spedo 50, I'm doing about 55. This also changes my final drive on
the negative side. I'm considering changing down to 225's on the fronts. I
bought before I found this net and the wealth of information.

in fact, this might be all we can do since Claude is oft to point out, the
GMC is almost always over the front wheel load max. Adding more weight up
here for traction just aggravates our front end problems.
