That is completely dependent on the material and the age.
I didn't have to wash mine, they volunteered to self destruct.

That is what I'm afraid of. They are showing signs of age now, cracking and peeling. I think I'll just deep six them as Casey will be in inside storage next winter...Thanks Matt!!
