I have Alcoa wheels and small Alcoa center covers. I checked the tire for
rocks/nails and found none. I checked the center cover and it seemed to be
secure. I removed the nut covers, which all seemed to be secure, and
removed the wheel to check the brake. I found nothing unusual. I put it
all back together, torquing the lug nuts to 140 ft lbs. I spun the wheel by
hand and could not hear the ticking sound. I checked it out this afternoon
and the ticking sound is gone. The only thing that I can figure is there
must have been something in the wheel or center cover that fell out when I
removed them for inspection. I am happy the sound is gone but wish I knew
what it was. Thanks for everyone's response to this thread. It is helpful
to get others thoughts when trying to find out what is going on. Hope to
see a lot of the GMC net people in Myrtle Beach.
