Superchargers and wear

Nothing to bite at Rick. Just a statement that I have heard many times,
that the constant pressure of a supercharger actually cuts down on engine
wear. Easier on the main bearings, rods etc. I have never seen any
documentation on it other than an article I read many years ago for a 1963
volkswagen and a Paxton supercharger.

I think this was a natural spin off from the
discussion about changing ratios to improve power and
or mileage. Engine wear based on the distance a piston
travels compared to the miles covered.
The real deal with supercharging is you get more
horsepower without changing the RPM or gearing.
Mileage, well you then could theoretically gear down
and run at lower RPM or just be loving the extra
power. On the down side you might have to raise the
engine hatch "just a bit".
