Perhaps a little background info might be handy as we put faces to eMail
addresses!

I will be 63 next month, retired from IBM in 1987 and have been doing
consulting work since. My wife of 45 years and I bought our 1st Palm
Beach new in 1975 and our present '77 Eleganza II (previously a Palm
Beach also) in 1993.

3 kids, 1 in FL, 1 in GA and 1 in AZ; 5 Grandkids, 2 in FL and 3 in AZ.
In '77 we took the 2 youngest kids (10 & 12) out of school for a year and
covered the 48 contigous states in our old GMC and had the
once-in-a-lifetime-experience!

We are out in our GMC at least once a month during the winter months and
4-5 months trip during the summer.

God!, I love that GMC!

Gosh, I've been anxiously waiting to see Mike up there in the great North
Woods make a witty comment or two on this subject. His teeth must be
chattering too badly to talk now, for it's 28 down here in Dixie.

David, I'll be 64 on March 16. I retired in 1989. Perfect physical health
except for the parts which were once badly beaten, battered, torn and
broken. My psychiatric analysis is still classified. My original child
bride and I have six children but this has no religious implications for we
tend to be kind of careless. We RVed with our brood in all states except
Hawaii, all but one Canadian Province, and a good bit of Mexico. Gonna do a
rerun with Grandchildren next, if I ever get our GMC refurbishment
completed.

Having said all that, I want everyone to know I have talked to a number of
these GMCnet guys off line.

Since they won't give you their bios, I will tell you what I suspect.

By reading between the lines, I think two of them once served time for
rape.

I am almost certain another is a yet to be prosecuted axe murderer.

Another talks in his sleep, so his girl friends always have the same name as
his wife.

Another claims he is a retired garbage truck driver, but is almost certainly
a gangster.

Worst still, some are pilots, boaters, ham radio operators, CBers, computer
nuts and mechanics.

Whether they smoke, drink, stick needles in their arms or belch in church is
insignificant when one ponders what all the above implies about their true
behavioral traits.

Based upon my suspicions, if we each tell all, this could become the very
best thread ever to hit the internet ......... but until they really
fess up we will have to continue to try to put faces to some of these
characters.

This is gonna be a much more interesting area to explore than oil filters,
wheel bearings and tires.

That's what I suspect.

Cheers,

Continuing the trend...
Al Chernoff, semi old, few hairs, and those I have I inventory every
evening. Naval intelligence ( an oxymoron). retired in 1997. Have
nothing else to do except try to keep up with the GMC. It takes all my time,
so my wife says. Future plans... to take the GMC out of town --- and
hopefully --- to get back. With all the fears we have put down on this web,
I store all sorts of spare parts, many of which I hope I will never use.
Wife says it takes up all the space in the coach... So ... Thinking about
buying another coach to tow in case this one breaks down.
Regards

Well since this has gotten started....

David and y'all --

The official party line:
I'm 43, still working, and eligible for retirement in 2011. Married 21
years, two children; a 20 year old son at Purdue majoring in Agronomy and a
17 year old daughter headed somewhere, maybe Ball State.

I attempt to manage an independent telephone/cable TV/Internet company in
North Central Indiana and a competitive telephone company in Fort Wayne, IN.
I have been very active in my industry at the national and international
levels including starting telephone cooperatives in Poland and South Africa,
but now focus on starting a new business closer to home.

My wife got our family into the GMC scene, she traveled the entire US in a
converted school bus as a child. (And no Scott, she isn't from Gypsy tribe),
she's an RN for a local family medical practice.

The real dirt:
Grey hair, all original parts, all of which still work (mostly), no chemical
dependencies. College dropout, Mensa dropout. At one time, a licensed waste
water treatment plant operator. For business, have been to every major city
in the US, HI, AK, PR and most Canadian provinces. Have traveled every state
in the north east US in our GMC, from Maine to NY, as well as WI and MN.

Detained, not arrested, not convicted (and it was as a teenager) of putting
a periscope on the local Holstein. (Black and white cop car) The car was
underwater at the time. The rest of the details are somewhat sketchy. Do
occasionally snore in church, usually when not singing.

My Spring time GMC projects:

Beat HTML coders (daily) with a hose to finish searchable GMCnet page
Aux vac pump
Install new, copper exhaust gasket before a paper one blows out (again)
New headliner
Load range "E" tires on Alcoa wheels (if they're still made and not all
recalled)
Remove original factory stripes (looking bad) but not original factory paint
(looking good)
Remove original roof pod for that 'streamlined' look
New clearance lights that don't look like they're off a Model-T

That's it for now. A young man's gotta keep a few secrets from all you
lecherous retirees.

Mark

I agree. I've had quite a laugh at this thread.

PS -- Scott, I've sent you a picture of coach and owner, so if you put up a
directory site, feel free to post it.
